Modi Govt Committed to Build New, Developed and Self-Reliant India: Amit Shah
Union Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the Narendra Modi government will remain committed to building a new, developed and self-reliant India and the country will emerge on the global stage as a leading nation in every field.
Shah also thanked Prime Minister Modi for giving him the opportunity to serve the country and its people for the second consecutive term as a Union cabinet minister.
"Took oath as Union Cabinet Minister in the NDA government led by Modi ji. I express my heartfelt gratitude to PM Shri @narendramodi ji for giving me the opportunity to serve the country and countrymen again," he said in a post on X.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we will remain committed to building a new, developed and self-reliant India and our country will emerge on the global stage as a leading nation in every field of development," Shah said.
34 Ministers Retain Berth, Including 19 in Cabinet
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has retained 34 ministers from his outgoing council of ministers including as many as 19 with Cabinet berths. The outgoing Cabinet ministers who took oath again on Sunday included Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar, reflecting the prime minister's emphasis on continuity and experience in his third term, Annapurna Devi is the only one to be promoted from Minister of State rank to Cabinet minister, while L Murugan is the only person from the last council of ministers to get a berth again despite having lost the Lok Sabha election. He is already a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Modi’s Govt 3.0 Cabinet to Hold First Meeting on Monday Evening
The first meeting of the third Narendra Modi cabinet is likely to be held on Monday evening at the Prime Minister's Lok Kalyan Marg residence, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.
The newly-inducted ministers would meet at PM Modi's residence at 5 pm.
BJP president JP Nadda also reportedly hosted a dinner for those inducted in the new Modi government's council of ministers.
Raksha Khadse Youngest, Jitan Ram Manjhi Oldest in PM Modi’s Council of Ministers
Raksha Nikhil Khadse is the youngest minister at 37 while Jitan Ram Manjhi at 79 is the oldest minister to be sworn in.
Khadse, an MP from Maharashtra, was sworn in as minister of state (MoS) in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new Council of Ministers. She won the Raver Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra.
Manjhi (79) was sworn in as a Union Cabinet Minister in Modi 3.0 government.
Manjhi has served as the 23rd Chief Minister of Bihar, and is the founding president of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM). Previously, he had served as the minister for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes welfare in Nitish Kumar's Cabinet. He won the Gaya seat in 2024 general elections.
Some of the other young ministers include Chirag Paswan and Jayant Choudhary.

33 First-Timers in Modi 3.0 Govt; 6 From Well-Known Political Families
With the third Modi government taking shape on Sunday, 33 first-timers will grace its ranks and at least six of them hail from well-known political families.
Those joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi's council of ministers for the first time include three former chief ministers – Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana) and HD Kumaraswamy (Karnataka).
Chouhan is a five-time MP from Vidisha, a constituency represented by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in the past.
He is also the longest-serving chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
A former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak, Khattar served as the chief minister of Haryana twice. He resigned from the post in March after ally JJP withdrew support from the government.
Seven first-time ministers in the Modi government belong to the allies: TDP's K Rammohan Naidu and Chandrasekhar Pemmasani; JDU's Lalan Singh and Ram Nath Thakur, RLD's Jayant Chaudhary, LJP's Chirag Paswan and HD Kumaraswamy of the JD(S).
First Time MP From Pune Murlidhar Mohol Sworn in as Minister of State in Modi Govt
First time BJP MP from Pune Murlidhar Mohol was on Sunday inducted as minister of state in the Narendra Modi government.
A former mayor of Pune, he defeated Congress' Ravindra Dhangekar, who, incidentally had wrested BJP bastion Kasba in a recent Assembly bypoll.
Mohol (49) is a Maratha and his victory over Dhanegkar by more than 1.23 lakh votes helped the BJP retain Pune, Maharashtra's second largest city and one of the country's premier industrial and commercial hubs, for the third consecutive time.
He hails from Mulshi tehsil in the district and had graduated from Kolhapur University. He also took wrestling lessons there.
Mohol, who has attended RSS 'shakhas', became a corporator for the first time in 2002 and headed the standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation before becoming mayor in 2019.
Nirmala Sitharaman Among 7 Women Part of New Cabinet; Irani, Lekhi Dropped
Seven women, including two in the Cabinet role, have been inducted into the new council of ministers in the 18th Lok Sabha. There were 10 women ministers in previous council of ministers, which dissolved on June 5.
Those who were dropped include former Union Minister Smriti Irani, Minister of State Dr Bharti Pawar, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Darshana Jardosh, Meenakshi Lekhi, and Pratima Bhoumik.
The new ministers inducted into the council of ministers are former Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP MPs Annpurna Devi, Shobha Karandlaje, Raksha Khadse, Savitri Thakur, and Nimuben Bambhaniya, and Apna Dal MP Anupriya Patel.
Sitharaman and Devi have been inducted in the Cabinet while the rest have sworn in as minister of state.
While Irani and Pawar lost her incumbent seat at Amethi and Dandori respectively, Jyoti, Jardosh, Lekhi and Bhoumik were dropped by the BJP and were not fielded.
Devi, Karandlaje, Khadse, Sehrawat, and Patel who have won the recent polls have been inducted in the new council of ministers.
A total of 74 women have won the Lok Sabha elections this year, a slight decrease from the 78 elected in 2019.

Special Invitees Construction Workers Wait With Bated Breath for Modi Swearing-in
Twenty-eight years old Angad Kumar Paswan is still in disbelief that he has been invited to the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and the new cabinet of ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening.
His Joy has kept him awake for the past two nights.
"I am still not able to believe that I would be witnessing the grand oath taking ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan," Paswan, a native of Garhwa District in Jharkhand, told news agency PTI as he held the invitation card close to his chest like a prized possession.
Modi is set to take oath on Sunday for a third straight term as the head of a coalition government after two full tenures in which the BJP enjoyed a majority on its own.
Paswan is among the nearly 90 construction workers working on the Central Vista redevelopment project who would be special invitees for the Modi 3.0 swearing-in ceremony.
Besides, 30 sanitation workers from MCD and some government hospitals also have been invited.
All of them gathered at the residence of the former Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for high tea before the ceremony.
The workers said they were touched by the gesture.
Will Take Oath as Cabinet Minister: Kiren Rijiju
Ahead of the oath-taking ceremony, Kiren Rijiju says, “I will take oath as Cabinet Minister around 7.30pm on 9th June 2024. In the past, I took oath 3 times as Minister of State in 2014, Minister of State with Independent Charge in 2019 and as Cabinet Minister in 2021. Thank you Arunachal Pradesh, @narendramodi Ji, @BJP4India and people of India. I will serve the nation with greater zeal and devotion.”

Modi’s Oath Ceremony to be Attended by Transgender community members, sanitation workers
People from transgender community and sanitation workers have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and the new cabinet of ministers to give them blessings.
Before the ceremony, BJP MP and former Social Justice and Empowerment minister Virendra Kumar felicitated the transgender community members at his residence while BJP MP and former Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat felicitated sanitation workers.
"This is a part of Prime Minister Modi's call of 'sabka saath sabka vishwas and sabha prayas'. Including people from transgender community in the ceremony is to enhance the inclusivity message of the PM," Kumar told media.
This is the first time that people from the transgender community are formally invited for the swearing-in ceremony, he said.
These participants have made contribution in the empowerment of the transgender community, Kumar added.
Sonam Kinnar from the UP BJP unit said she along with 50 members of the community have come here to give blessings to the new government.
